Our Mission
Stone Town Theatre Works celebrates the role of the actor and playwright as the creative cornerstones of the highest quality theatrical productions. We fearlessly and viscerally provide our community with performances of the world’s best classic and contemporary dramatic literature.
So what does this mean?
With quality acting and a great script, Theatre can be created anywhere that an audience can congregate. High tech sets and lighting, while nice to have, don’t make the play. At Stone Town Theatre Works there are two things that we feel “make” the play; a great script and a great cast.
We focus on bringing to Bellingham plays that are not regularly seen here. We take what we call a modern approach to the classics. It doesn’t mean that we won't set a play in a classic period, but we are always concerned with the contemporary relevance of classic plays and choose scripts that will speak to the modern problems inherent with being human.
Production Partners
Heather Dyer
Heather has enjoyed working with classical texts for more than 20years. Among notable roles are Rosaline from Love's Labour's Lost with Portland Actors Ensemble, Pauline at Northwest Washington Shakespeare Festival, and Titania at the National Shakespeare Conservatory. She enjoyed directing Stone Town Theatre Works' premier production of King Lear in 2009. Heather has a bachelor's degree in theatre from Western Washington University and a certificate from the National Shakespeare Conservatory.
Donald Drummond
Donald has directed and performed in productions in Bellingham, Seattle, and Portland. As a director, particular highlights include Othello with the Portland Actors Ensemble, Julius Caesar at the Northwest Actors Studio, and Much Ado About Nothing at the Western Washington Shakespeare Festival (now the Skagit River Shakespeare Festival). On stage Donald has played a variety of roles ranging from Bottom in A Midsummer Nights Dream to Ali Hakim in Oklahoma! He was particulary fond of "Soldier" in King Lear at Portland Center Stage. Donald holds a Master of Arts in Theatre from Western Washington University.
Jeff Braswell
Jeff has been involved in theatre in Bellingham since 1996. Jeff has worked as an actor, producer, and director with the Bellingham Theatre Guild, iDiOM Theatre, and Shakespeare Northwest. Notable roles include the Fool in the Stone Town Theatre Works production of King Lear and performance in 2005's Sons of a Common Mother, which traveled to the AACTFest 2005 National One-Act Play Festival.
